چکیده

Thermal mismatch stresses in the ceramic particles of a Cu–ZrW2O8 composite were calculated using a finite-element model, and found to be high enough to trigger a pressure-induced phase transformation, in agreement with previous measurements by X-ray diffraction. The calculated thermal expansion/contraction curves also agree with previous experimental dilatometric results. 2004 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.

Characterization of thermal stresses and plasticity in through-silicon via structures for three-dimensional integration

Through-silicon via (TSV) is a critical element connecting stacked dies in three-dimensional (3D) integration. The mismatch of thermal expansion coefficients between the Cu via and Si can generate significant stresses in the TSV structure to cause reliability problems. In this study, the thermal stress in the TSV structure was measured by the wafer curvature method and its unique stress charact...

Synthesis and thermal expansion properties of ZrO2/ZrW2O8 composites

In this work, a ceramic composite of ZrW2O8 and ZrO2 was synthesized, in order to investigate the possibility of compensating the positive thermal expansion of ZrO2 with the negative thermal expansion (NTE) compound ZrW2O8, tailoring the thermal expansion of these composites. The NTE material was mixed with varying amounts of ZrO2. The thermal expansion coefficients of this series of composites...

Studying the Mechanical and Thermal Properties of Polymer Nanocomposites Reinforced with Montmorillonite Nanoparticles Using Micromechanics Method

In this study, the mechanical and thermal behavior of the nano-reinforced polymer composite reinforced by Montmorillonite (MMT) nanoparticles is investigated. Due to low cost of computations, the 3D representative volume elements (RVE) method is utilized using ABAQUS finite element commercial software. Low density poly ethylene (LDPE) and MMT are used as matrix and nanoparticle material, respec...

Local Imperfection Effects on Thermal Buckling Behavior of Composite Fiber Reinforced Truncated Conical Liner

Thermal buckling behavior of truncated conical liner reinforced by laminated composite is investigated in the presence of a general initial imperfection. For this purpose, the method of virtual work and first-order strain-deformation shell theory are employed to extract equilibrium equations. To this end, a finite element code is developed using the 3D 8-node shell element with six degrees of f...
